Wawanesa Life launches Bereavement Support to provide compassionate guidance after loss

WINNIPEG, Manitoba, Sept. 15, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- To help its members and their families navigate the challenges that often follow the loss of a loved one, Wawanesa Life has introduced Bereavement Support - a new suite of services that provides compassionate guidance and practical resources during one of life’s most difficult moments.

Available at no additional cost through Wawanesa Life’s Group Plan Member Life, Dependent Life, and Employee Assistance Program (EAP) offerings, Bereavement Support allows plan sponsors to extend meaningful care when it matters most.

“The loss of a loved one can be overwhelming, leaving families to navigate not only grief, but also a range of complex responsibilities,” said Dean Chambers, VP, Chief Life Operations Officer for Wawanesa. “Bereavement Support reflects our commitment to supporting our members through challenging times and is the latest example of how we’re enhancing our offerings to meet their needs.”

Wawanesa Life’s Bereavement Support provides access to Solace, a digital platform that helps members and their families manage tasks such as estate administration, notifications, and funeral planning, while also addressing the emotional challenges that often follow a loss. Solace was developed by GreenShield Ventures, the innovation hub of GreenShield, Canada's only non-profit health and benefits company and Wawanesa's trusted partner.

Eligible claimants with Group Plan Member Life and Dependent Life coverage also receive professional bereavement counselling and financial guidance following the loss of a covered family member.

Services are delivered through GreenShield and are available in both English and French. For more information, visit wawanesalife.com/bereavement-support.
